i wasnt arguing about the map. i dont mind if people take my stuff, and i accept that i have no legal authority over the map, but i would like people to not post my stuff with no mention of my name and give other people permision to do who knows what with it.

Everyone has w/e permission to do with it as they please, it is just not condoned by many communities to take and redistribute as your own.

fuck, realy?

so my choices are either not release my models or let people take them and claim them as their own?
on mysticdeaths forums, some guy claimed rights to models on MDs server, and MD had to take them off. http://mysticdeath.com/smf/index.php?topic=444.0

whats the difference between that and this?

MD owns that site. He can do whatever he pleases on his site. You are just a member of this site. It is the mods choice of whether or not to remove them. And that is based on the fact that they care and/or you have legit proof that you did indeed make the models/maps. Still, in the end, it is the mods/admins choice of whether to remove it or not.

It's public domain. There's no reason to take it down weather he claimed he made it or not. (obviously he didn't) You made these models public when you released them on a public server. If you don't want them posted all over the internet, don't make them public to begin with.

You honestly think people care about this? If you made it, good for you, it means you're good at it/getting better. At best, a moderator will remove it out of pity for you. Sure, we respect the fact that there are people out there willing to spend time making these models, but that's as far as it goes.

EDIT: As for the "you have my permission thing", that's just the poster being a moron. Ignore it.
