Metamod:Source 1.8 in Beta w/ L4D2 Support
Metamod:Source 1.8 is now in beta. The preliminary releases notes are on the wiki. Of note:
Because we have changed the legacy Metamod:Source backend, the beta cycle for this release will be longer (around a month). We have done an in-depth review of the changes and are confident there are no compatibility problems. However, if there are, it is important we capture and fix them quickly. Once the beta is over we will require MM:S 1.8 for SourceMod 1.3 on all games. Click here to see the snapshot download listing. You can track source code changes as well. We recommend that if you want to beta test Metamod:Source 1.8, you download the latest available version. Thanks for your help and patience beta testing, and a special thanks to DS, pRED, and Fyren for helping out with the L4D2 porting effort so far. Also huge thanks to PM, who wrote these long-lost SourceHook changes. Note: SourceMod does not yet run on L4D2. This port is a separate effort, and once we're confident that the product works to a reasonable degree, we'll announce more publicly. |

Great news to see it is already working on L4D2. Very fast ;)
I have CS:S servers, but it is hardly worth updating to a beta version, I think I will wait before updating :) Thanks Bailopan |

On the Sourcemod developer Snapshots waterfall page, in the 1.4 branch, there are builds with 'L4D2 gamedata changes'.
Does that mean these builds work on the demo? |

AtomicStryker: SM with L4D2 support is in private testing (in Donor forums). There are known issues we're still working on before we're ready for a deluge of public testers.

Bailopan, maybe my feedback can help you.
- metamod 1.8.0 hg676 will load on l4d2_demo, obviously, cannot be loaded with old metod (gameinfo.txt) and we know that is deprecated, also, it will search "addonlist.txt" ------------------------------------------------------------------ ***VPK: FastFindFile Attempting to use full path with VPK file! File: /l4d2_demo/left4dead2_demo/left4dead2/addonlist.txt after this, a loop restart will start.... ------------------------------------------------------------------ metamod can be loaded just only with metamod.vdf, but we cannot check with HLSW if it is already loaded, infact when i digit "meta version" HLSW will not shown anything... I did a check, already connected to my shell with my screen, when i launch the command "meta version" on HLSW, i can see: ---------------------------------------------------- Metamod:Source version 1.8.0-dev Build ID: 676:d1215cfea5db-dev Loaded As: Valve Server Plugin Compiled on: Oct 30 2009 Plugin interface version: 15:14 SourceHook version: 5:5 http://www.metamodsource.net/ MasterRequestRestart Your server will be restarted on map change. I have tested all metamod 1.8 beta snapshoot, L4D2 Demo dedicated Linux server crash all time.
