Issues with Steam
There's some weird issues with Steam while playing on some of my servers, and the same has also been confirmed by other players. I have now narrowed it down to the IP address, but have no clue what to do to fix the issue.
I've got a dedicated server with one main IP address and one additional IP address. I can bind HLDS servers to either of the IPs and players have no problem joining and playing there. The issue is, that on servers which use the secondary IP, I can't see anyone's Steam display pictures unless I have added them on my friends list or seen them before on another server. In addition to that, the "View Players" option on the Steam overlay is always empty. None of this is a problem on servers bound to the machine's primary IP address. All of the servers say the following after starting up: Code:
Connection to Steam servers successful. I would greatly appreciate any help with this. |
Re: Issues with Steam
Thanks to this thread, I found the API for checking which servers are registered with the master server.
According to that, the main IP has 6 servers on it, and the secondary IP has none. In reality, the main one has 2 servers and the secondary has 6. Therefore, it seems like all of the servers are getting registered on the main IP, regardless of what IP they are actually bound to. |
Re: Issues with Steam
Looks like this is a problem you need to report in Half-Life's GitHub page.
