module : irc
 

i was thinking if there are such a modules as vexd, xtrafun, mysql etc then why not to introduce simple irc module

in irc.cfg there would be a definition of a server:port
maybe some auth lines
channels

the provided native functions would easied in exporting the messages from/to irc


i know this is a tough task cause it would mean to write a irc bot, but maybe someone would try?

there is already a sockets module but it's very unstable
we will write a new sockets module which is really stable

The new sockets module I'm writing is also a bit easier to use, if I have time (unlikely) I can write an IRC.inc set of stocks.

Woo hoo, a working sockets module will be very nice. :)

I actually made the module for sk|bds on request, they're using it for production stuff in Shcroet Kommando... so I'd say it's stable :D

I've been thinking of doing some irc stuff, but the only sockets available were UDP

I think there are already some metamod IRC Bots out there :) I know I found some on google ages ago :)

I'd much rather write my own
I try to write as much of what I use as possible, simply because I can customize it more

I think an IRC Module would be good once there is a good sockets module inplace, and stable.
