What is r_aspectratio

Hi all,

Can somebody please tell me what r_aspectratio is and why a player would be banned for violation of the command?

I have tried looking on Google, but it just returns a lot of spam and information that does not help.

Thanks.

Hi, I am unaware of whether this is in relation to my post on Surf Infamous but it allows players to do 'drugged vision'. It's proper function is for zooming.

It's typically used by filmmakers btw. A good example is in GMod when you right click move your mouse back and forward with the camera tool.

Wider view and seeing through some walls or props. r_aspectratio cannot be changed in TF2 when sv_cheats is 0 unless the player is cheating. Try changing it yourself to see if that's the case in whatever it is you run.

OK thanks for your help.

Basically the command requires sv_cheats set to 1, and if the player is using anything other than 0 then that will mean that they have used some kind of sv_cheats bypass, hence why it would trigger a ban.

Answered my own question :)

This come lately, I recomended use "2"
http://store.steampowered.com/news/7312/
Code:

"sv_restrict_aspect_ratio_fov" = "1" min. 0.000000 max. 2.000000
 replicated
 - This can be used to limit the effective FOV of users using wide-screen
resolutions with aspect ratios wider than 1.85:1 (slightly wider than 16:9).
0 = do not cap effective FOV
1 = limit the effective FOV on windowed mode users using resolutions
        greater than 1.85:1
2 = limit the effective FOV on both windowed mode and full-screen users
