Re: Thinking of getting a Dell PowerEdge 6850
Its going to cost a lot to collocate, thats about it.

Re: Thinking of getting a Dell PowerEdge 6850
Yea, that is not something you want to order. Try to stick with 1U servers as it will cost you 3x less to colocate.

Re: Thinking of getting a Dell PowerEdge 6850
derek does not have solid info when it comes to actually having a server colocated. he rents his servers from data centers and does not control the hardware.

Re: Thinking of getting a Dell PowerEdge 6850
if you own all your hardware then why are your reselling servers from ubiquityservers.com?
btw a 4u is only $40 more to colocate then a 1u at some places. one of which is http://www.ubiquityservers.com/colocation/seattle.php |

Re: Thinking of getting a Dell PowerEdge 6850
You pay for space, bandwidth, and power usage in a datacenter since thats what the server uses and what the datacenter provides. For every 4U they could have 4 1Us which is a lot more efficient and possibly allows the datacenter to make more money.
