Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

Hmm yes, updated gamedata. Did you update your first post with that? Or was this a "heads up" ?

pheadxdll 11-02-2012 16:20

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

It broke on linux, the first post's latest version has the new gamedata. Copy and restart.

snelvuur 11-02-2012 18:20

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

The server needs a restart btw? Since its a extension? (because i can reload extensions too)..
[04] file "thriller.ext.2.ep2v.so": Could not locate signature to apply patch.

You sure its updated on first post?

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

Gamedata files are only ever read once, you'll need to restart the server to flush out the old one.

Can this be updated to prevent the tf_zombie entity from taunting?

Yeah that would be great if that would be made / done :)
tf_zombie entity would work fine in arena gamemode with 4 players that can't respawn. So they taunt only when they die but on 32 player server each time someone dies they taunt and that makes them easy to kill target :grrr:

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

Not off the top of my head, this blocks the thriller taunt, letting the normal one get set. Would require some digging into that I just don't have time for now.

Any news on tf_zombie no taunt?

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

Consider switching to SM 1.5+'s StoreTo/LoadFromAddress. To figure out the platform(and the necessary patch byte), you can hook the server_spawn event and read it from there, or just add the corresponding section into the gamedata as well.

Would do it myself but I don't play TF2 at all and never did, not to mention running servers for it. Just noticed this thread and thought I'd leave a small suggestion here. The competitive L4D2 philosophy is, "don't bother with extensions where SM can do the job". Why not follow the same one for TF2?

This extension was written before those natives existed. Instead of server_spawn you can grab the correct path from gamedata. Just haven't had time to move it.

Please tell me how these signatures and offsets were found? I opened server.dll & *.so files via ida and I can not find a clue
Linux http://s018.radikal.ru/i519/1309/e5/44d28119947f.gif
Windows http://s019.radikal.ru/i640/1309/02/6c93f3875de8.gif

I replaced 76 1F (jbe) -> 71 1F (jno), but how can I know that the address 103D7DE4 is correct ?

Its annoying because even if the assemby looks similar, it may be two different things. Also, both binaries are compiled by different compilers, linux is probably gcc, windows is wat ms?

Finding stuff in linux is really simple, since you can see the names of the subs, but for windows :/ i net there are tools floating around to help find paralells for this very ourpose in thiw forum, but i have not seen or used them.

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

Why signature begins with F3 0F 59 rather than E8 96 7A (server.dll)?

I'd like to request:

Toggles an on/off state of the taunt per player.

You could try this one. Updated both, windows and linux.
I had to make the linux version blind, because I am not able to test it here. Maybe it works...

Been rather busy, thanks for the gamedata, I believe I am going to make this into a plugin to make updating easier when I get the chance, soon.

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

hmm now I don't seem to get the error anymore but I'm still taunting with the halloween taunt :/
Restarted 2 times and did some mapchanges.

Re: [TF2] No Thriller Taunt

The patch changed on linux so Tauphi's gamedata (for linux) is wrong. I was planning on making this into a plugin since it seemed like a good time.
