Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
Did you already did what you wanted with the listmaps command?
I tried a similar thing as what you posted with the say commands, but I think it will not work. Because in console it does say ----- Nominatable Maps ----- However that is all it shows. There list does not appear for some reason it is just blank. If I do the command from console it does show the list. I do not know why that is. |

Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
I've configured groups just now. I think what would be nice to have is if the groups had names so you could either tag the maps with the group name, or have headings. So that even if people don't know the map, they can at least see what type it is.
http://i.imgur.com/VZO11wA.jpg Example: With tags: 1. openfire_l (CTF) 2. avanti (AvD) 3. 2fort (CTF) 4. hunted (other) 5. dustbowl (AvD) 6. shutdown2 (CTF) Using headings: CTF 1. openfire_l 2. 2fort 3. shutdown2 AvD 4. avanti 5. dustbowl Other 6. hunted |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)

Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
Using it for again for some time now....
It seems that the votingmenu doesnt appear randomly to some player. There was no other vote going on that time. And: Its happens some time, that theres a clear vote on the nextmap, but the plugin choses 'the other one' |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
If you are using some other menu, like kz menu, some shop or anything like that, i think people need to close that menu first in order to see the vote.
I don't know about a clear vote, but if you disable runoff voting, plugin randomly selects the map if there's equal number of votes for more than 1 map... Try enabling runoff vote... |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
i dont have any other 'voting plugins' enabled like you mentioned.
Let me try to explain it: The voting comes up , but sometimes single ppl complain that there was no voting menu for them. For other players it was fine. |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
I didn't mean other voting plugins... i meant all other plugins that have menus. Like on zombie servers, there are shops, and i think players won't be able to see the vote until they close the shop menu.
For my kreedz server i added a message to go with the vote, telling players to close all other menus in order to see the vote. And i think you have the same problem... |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
No - i dont have anything of this - strange
|
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
Now I'm using the 1.2-Version of this Plugin from https://code.google.com/p/amxx-plugin-galileo/
Theres a 'override menues' option which forces the votingmenu to appear. I still think i dont use any plugin with menues - but hey - this one works for me. |

Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
There's letter 'r' infront of every map during vote, e.g r1: de_Dust, r2:de_dust2 etc, how do I remove it?

you can help me solve this problem? thank you :) |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)

Galileo 1.1.294 - Under new headlines.
See here the original authors (Brad) plugin post:
https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=77391 This newer updates goal to fix bug and to remove functionalities that are not working and can be achieved by using third parts plugins, due this become this own plugin unmaintainable. See the original post (link above) and changelog below to heads up. Note 1: At this version you need the original "NextMap" (nextmap.amxx) plugin from AMXX Dev Team active. Note 2: At my taste/sense, this new code is ugly, but working. Note 3: Why a new thread? Because I doubt the author would be happy due the the remove of some implement features. But how i justify, there is others plugins specialized at them. Hence, as this plugin is too specialized at map voting. ********************************************* *********************************** Changelog Quote:

Re: Galileo 1.1.294 - Under new headlines.
Are you sure that you will be able to support this plugin? It's cool if you fixed some bug but last time i checked that plugin i've read somewhere it took a year to be made and that it's huge. So if you want to support it, you better read all the code and make sure you understand it or if new bugs come, you might be in troubles to fix them.

Re: Galileo 1.1.294 - Under new headlines.
Did you contact Brad at least? He was recently active. This is quite rude to start a new thread without even tried to speak him.
I know also he has some bug tracker for plugin, with existing bug/features. Why are you removing features? If you take over the plugin, this should be backward compatible. If you want to simply provide "your" version, then you should have posted in the plugin thread. It looks like you misunderstand the difference. For now will merge this into original plugin thread. If you are serious about really becoming the new author of Galileo, then please do things properly. first contact Brad, ask if he's okay with you, retrieve as many information as possible, start a new thread with same information as original, contact an Approver to unapprove original plugin and think twice before doing changes. Right now what you're doing is just randomly pick a plugin, doing few changes and releasing, no, please don't do that. |
Re: Galileo 1.1.294 - Under new headlines.
Just to make things clear. We have nothing against you, and you are free to post plugins here, but please post something as original as possible, which make sense and preferably a quality plugin. If you just fixed some bugs then you should post in the plugin thread. If you want to take over the plugin at least try to contact the author, if he does not respond PM an approver and tell him that you want to start developing this plugin.
For me, at this moment, it seems that you just removed features that you don't understand. Don't do this, and take over a plugin only if you fully understand it. A plugin is not unmaintainable just because it has a lot of features, it become so when the coder don't know how to fix or improve the code. Running two map chooser plugins at the same time seems a bad ideea, Galileo was able to do everything. |

So now on, all the time a remove a feature I will redirect to the original plugin who do that, and make available they thread to others install or not with Galileo. But if in the beginning you are talking about running galileo with a paused mapchooser, from AMX Dev Team, there no problem about that. Running they together just makes the vote happens twice. One after other, and who wins is last one. But off course, i expect that the admin user, manually disable others mapchoosers by himself. Quote:

"If you want to simply provide "your" version, then you should have posted in the plugin thread." Probability it will became my own version, as the original author wanted to accomplish at lot features of existent plugins at one big. But as long as now, its still much the original one, with a little features off. I not take a feature out if there is not a third part specialized at it. And if there is not, I will throw a new one to do that specific feature, because of maintainability. If I some day get out, easily another programmer would take my place. |

Let put another words about software engineering:
The principle of modularity is a specialization of the principle of separation of concerns. The principle of consistency is a recognition of the fact that it is easier to do things in a familiar context. The principle of generality is closely related to the principle of anticipation of change. http://www.d.umn.edu/~gshute/softeng/principles.html |

Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
Hey guys,
I'm not sure if this problem has been pointed out already, but I couldn't find anything related to it. If it was noticed, I'm sorry for posting this. This plugin is a very powerful system, however, it's not compatible with Alternative End Round Sounds by Arkshine. These plugins somehow seem to interfere with each other, because galileo works perfectly, but ERS stops precaching music on start, let alone playing it at round end. I tried switching their positions in plugins.ini, tried using older versions of galileo, but none seems to work it out. I'm not expecting any support, but just in case someone has had the same problem and found the solution, let me know. Thanks. |
Re: Galileo 1.1.290 (a feature rich map voting plugin)
You should be posting in "Alternative End Round Sounds by Arkshine" thread, as that plugin is having issues.

Plugin is in trash section, so the best section to REQUEST help is to post in the REQUEST section, as it's likely a configuration issue.
