Source SDK Pre-Released

Parts of the Source SDK have been released via Steam. The full SDK will be released after Half-Life 2 is available.

It contains:
- Hammer (map editor)
- Model Viewer

The SDK is available for everyone who bought HL2 / CS:Source. You only have to restart Steam.

Yay... and now for the rest of it.

You need to own a Source game to have access to the SDK.

This release includes Source tools and work-in-progress
documentation. These tools allow creation of Counter-Strike Source
maps, models, and materials. Once the SDK is downloaded and
installed, all tools, example content and documentation will located
in your Steam folder Steam\SteamApps\<account>\sourcesdk. Tools like
Hammer and Half-Life Model Viewer can be started directly from the
Steam SDK menu.

The Source SDK will be continously updated, this first
release doesn't contain any source code to build customized server &
client binaries (Mods).

Pretty much just hammer ;/

I hate valve for this. I want to start mapping before I pay for CS:S & HL2. I only want CS:S...

Just ten more days, I can't believe it. It's been six years. SIX.

And guys, the game has gone gold. Gold is not the same as beta. It means there's a lot of discs and boxes on their way to your retailers around the globe.

The fun has started, I think there will have to be a really huge mistake to pull this one back. Not that I don't expect any bugs in the release of course.

Yeah, that's why they preloaded most of the content already.

they got 10 days to finish it still and i don't think they would preload the dll, most likely the models and maps.
