For those interested, there is now an official SetClientName native in the latest SM 1.8 (edit: and now 1.7.1) snapshots. It works for all games and fixes the quirks involved with this snippet.

But i guess it takes long for 1.8 come into stable release..

SetClientName doesn't work for some reason. I tried the latest stable and dev build. (win)

i get the following error msg:
[SM] Native "SetClientName" reported: IServer interface not supported, file a bug report.

Another SM gamedata update is going out right now to fix the IServer issues on Windows.
