Paypal Donate Button

Hello AM,

I want to make a Donate Button/Page from Paypal for my freelancing work. I don't have that much knowledge on Economics/Accounting and Paypal account setup is kinda confusing (had gone through many many pages on paypal just to make myself more confused :| )

How do you guys setup your "Donate Button/Accounts" ? (Any Tut in this regard?)
Which account type do you choose Personal/Business ?
If you had opted for business it gives a lot of options for just freelancing work, i am confused about what to choose ?
Do we need a "Registered" Business to start and use a business account ?
Also i don't get a "Donate" button in "Create a Button" page on paypal :|

Also, I am from India. I don't know if you require any more details for the answers, if yes, do query.

Thanks in Advance.

Re: Paypal Donate Button

Looks like you can't have a button anymore if you don't have a Business account, but someones that made it years ago still have it. I've searched for hours a few months ago and couldn't find a solution for a personal account, everything was outdated.

The only thing I could find is PayPal.me which seems to be awesome, but I never liked it since it shows my real name (pulled from PayPal) on the page.

Anyway, PayPal seems to be very inconsistent with some stuff.

Both types works.

However, to get most features, you must (in some countries at least) verify your personal account, so it becomes the "Premier" level.

No, generally not. But certain things varies by country.

Within most European countries, PayPal seem to allow you to receive a maximum of 2.500 EUR in a calendar year without verifying your account (identity papers, company documents, etc.).

Maybe this thing is country restricted as well, but in the select box while creating your button, I get four types, "Donations" being one of them. See attached images.

PayPal can vary a lot from country to country.

Re: Paypal Donate Button

Also note that using a Donation button to have people pay for freelancing services may result in PayPal closing your account and taking your money (they clearly warn you about this in the documentation for Donation buttons).
