Help... ATI problems

Okay, I recently got an ATI 9600 and it's driving me insane. The only game I play is Half-Life, here is what it looks like for me:

As you can see it's quite unplayable... I've tried the latest Catalyst drivers, switching Anti-Alias/VSync/Fast-Write/AGP settings, nothing works... anyone have any ideas?

Theres some console commands ati_* that have different settings

What are you running? Software/DirectX/OpenGL?

OpenGL

Hmm

My friend had the same problem. It was because of his gateway computer. Theres a special code that needed to be entered into the Command Prompt, but he could only get it done at a best buy :( It would be illegal anyother way. Best buy had to call gateway and ask about legal terms. What type of comp. do you own?

Looks like video overclocking\overheating. Try reduce memory and chip timings. And possible turn off AGP8x option in BIOS.

Yip. Spontaneously it don't really look like a software problem. But I don't wanna guess wild around. Have you already tried the alternativ ATI Drivers? http://www.omegacorner.com/

ati_npatch 1 is the cvar that devicenull is looking for I believe, I don't know if it fixes it, and you might also want to grab the latest Catalyst drivers off the ATI website

I have a radeon 9700 and I love it

Tho it looks like it might be fun to play like that bail >.<

Most of the time its the drivers, if your still having troble then it could be the fan dieing on the card, send it back.

It does look like oc'ing/heat problem but for god's sake try a different game and see if it's the same.
