How many servers can I run on this server?
Hey all,
I am currently establishing a sponsorship with a hosting and they offered me a server with; CPU: 2x Intel Xeon L5640 RAM: Two strips of 12GB / 2x 12GB SSD: 480GB SSD Connection: 1000Mbps / 1Gbps It's a dedicated server and I'll be running Ubuntu 14.04 on it. How many CS:GO servers on 64tick can I run on this server? Thanks! |
Re: How many servers can I run on this server?
It depends on various factors such as amount of player slots you require, what plugins you're running, and so.
There is absolutely no ways for anyone to tell this for sure; the only way is by testing it yourself, and reducing amount of servers if things starts to be lagging, showing signs of overload, etc. It's a very old CPU, but 6 core, so ... a good guess would be 6 servers, with the typical "one per core". However, the CPU frequency is pretty low, so taken everything into account so far, I'd probably stick to 6 x 10 slots serves at max if I were you. If there are really 2 physical CPU's in, as your text seem to indicate, you might try 10 x 10 slots servers, but I wouldn't push it too hard as it is a very old CPU with a low frequency. Always quality over quantity. |

Thanks a lot, fortunately I only need space for 4 +/- servers with a maximum of 14 slots :).

up to 10 servers with up to 28 or 30 slots each, if optimal settings are applied on csgo servers and linux.

Arc
It's almost 8 years old. It says 2.8Ghz turbomax frequency. I doubt this old cpu would measure to a newer one at the same clockspeed. I highly doubt you would have stable performance at more than 20 slots. At 14 slots as long as no single game thread maxes out an entire physical core (physical+htt==2 virtual cores). You could probably host 8 servers per cpu. |
