Yes I downloaded the right version, which is Linux.

If you just do "meta" in the server console, it says unknown command?

Is there a metamod-fatal.log in the metamod bin directory? If not, then you probably extracted the archive to the wrong place.

I fixed it by reinstalling the whole thing
