Final word about No-Steam!

I do not support No-Steam. This should be obvious, but for those who can't get it:

a)"No-Steam" uses outdated engine binaries. If Valve doesn't support them, how can I support them?
b)"No-Steam" uses outdated CS binaries. This means that internal data can be different, and that means I'd have to support every iteration of CS into the past. The amount of CS internals CSDM relies on is heavy, and this would be a huge amount of work -- just so you can run Steam illegally!
c)"No-Steam" is not legal.
d)Why am I even writing this? No-Steam isn't from Valve, this should all be obvious.

I don't care if your entire country uses it. I don't care if your friends use it. I don't care if your LAN Café/center/party in your remote community in Post-Soviet-Communism Land use it. I am not going to start writing code that will work against every version of CS ever made.

The latest CS 1.6 running on Steam is a requirement, not a suggestion.

That is that. Whine about no-steam here and you will be looking for a temp-ban.

Because it might be a bit confusing - let me rephrase it a bit:
CS1.6/CZERO no-steam is not leggal. CS1.5 (which came as no-steam, but it was so based on old HL engine) IS leggal as long You are using leggally bought version of it, but because it is also using outdated binaries, it's not supported. CSDM 2.x requires to correct work CS1.6/CZERO steam based.

I do not understand why people want to use a no-steam version of CS. I mean, it is only 10 bucks... Now go compare that with like WOW or something which is like 50 dollars plus a fee of like 30 or so per every two months.

Because in some countries 10 dollars is a week's worth of payment.

I'll tell about another side.

STEAM requires unlimited internet (and fast) connection which costs much more than those 10 dollars (in medium cities & small towns). ~58 USD per month in my town for 256 kbit ADSL. It's *ucking expensive! Non-unlimited (payment by traffic) internet costs even more than unlimited (STEAM downloads too much stuff for the 1st connection). That's the truth.

I think Valve has some specail market value in different region. In my country ( China ), CS1.6 + CZ + DOD = 30 RMB, by today's exchange rate, that is 3.87 USD. And general worker's monthly pay is more than 1000 RMB.

In VNZLA there is not that special price. And even if you got steam no one else has it so you do a server steam and it wrotens empty. You do a No-Steam server and it's always full so what I did was download the latest steam HLDS then turned it No-Steam. About adsl price it's about 50 us monthly a 2046 kb. But most people play at cybers. There's an huge amount of cybers with no-steam in it.

And yes, 10 us over here it's more or less then what the average worker gets in 2 days.
