how to make dedicated server? help me

I wanted to open my personal server, so I tried it through internet search, but I can't do it with my skills, so I'm asking for help. If you help me, I'll give you a compensation.

First off, will your server be on Linux or Windows?

After you decide I highly recommend just watching a step by step tutorial on YouTube.

I want to open the l2d4 server
What's the difference between Linux and Windows?
I downloaded the dedicated server from Steam. I don't know what to do after that.

Wait, let's take it easy.

Do you have a dedicated server rented with a host? Or are you going to open a server on your own PC?

If it's on Host you have to check which server you hired, if it came Linux or Windows, you need to know, as they are two completely different versions.

If it's a home server, mounted on your PC, it's probably Windows, so use one of these two programs, they do everything for you.

TF2 I believe you need tokens to work online, without them only you can enter.

https://steamcommunity.com/dev/managegameservers

Enter this link, read everything and see if it solves your problem.

And yes, if you are running the server on your machine you need to release ports etc, in case no one is able to enter the server yet.

[EDIT]
I saw it now, L2D4... Release your router ports;
