Translation Project

BETTER USE THIS WEB APP MADE BY WebDestroya : https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=203440
Hey all,

I was thinking today that not a lot of plugins uses much of the translation system simply because there is no one to translate.
So, I thought: And if we have a group for translating plugins? Just needs the developer to ask and we translate it?
And that is what i'm proposing.

For those who want to join, just post here for what languages you would like to translate and i will be adding it at the main post. Reviewers are also needed.

For those who want to have their plugins translated, post here the .phrases.txt file with the phrases in english. Also, if possible, add some credits on the plugin for the project.

Just to keep it clear: All the translators have their own lifes so the translations will be made as they can. And that is another reason for you to join the project since as many translators as many translations.

For the translators: I don't know if you know but, you can write the text like it is (ã,ç,etc). You just need to save the translation file as UTF-8. Also, always remember to remove the line "#format" from yours translated files.

Needing translation:
Code:

Ultimate Map Chooser Admin Menu
[en] file
Done: pt,ru,de,lt,ko
Requested: ru,de,nl,fr,lt,pt,es

RankMe [en] file
Done: ru,nl,de,fr,lt,ko
Requested: ko and there is some phrases missing in de, fr, nl, ru

Translated:
The translated files will be released as:
- yourplugin.phrases.txt with the formats and english version.
- folder_of_language/yourplugin.phrases.txt with the translated version.

Example:
helloworld.phrases.txt
Code:

"Phrases"
{
      "HelloWorld"
        {
                "en"                "Hello World"
        }
        "PlayerHello"
        {
                "#format"        "{1:s}"
                "en"                "Hello {1}"
        }
}

pt/helloworld.phrases.txt
Code:

"Phrases"
{
      "HelloWorld"
        {
                "pt"                "Ola mundo"
        }
        "PlayerHello"
        {
                "pt"                "Ola {1}"
        }
}

People Translating:
Code:

  - Brazilian Portuguese:
    - lokizito
    - away000
  - Dutch:
    - Monkeys
    - Groger
  - German:
    - Dr. Greg House
    - Mainfield
  - French:
    - Monkeys
    - Zirconium
  - Korean:
    - Blowst
  - Lithuanian:
    - MindeLT
    - hleV
  - Russian:
    - ShufflexDD
    - b82a
    - Leonardo
    - neatek1
  - Spanish:
    - Franc1sco

Changes (MM/DD/YY):
Code:

06/08/11: Project Started.
06/09/11: Added MindeLT, ShufflexDD, Monkeys and Groger to the project.
              Also removed the reviewers item since i think all the translators
              can review if needed and added how the translations will be
              released.
06/14/11: Added b82a to Russian translations, Need translation and Translated.
06/21/11: Added Franc1sco to Spanish Translations.
06/27/11: Added Dr. Greg House to German Translations.
06/29/11: Added away000 to Brazilian Portuguese Translations.
07/18/11: Added neatek1 to Russian Translations.
09/16/11: Added Zirconium to French Translations, Mainfield to German Translations and hleV to Lithuanian Translations.
09/22/11: Added Blowst to Korean Translations.

Nice idea :) Definetly, i would join you. I could translate into Lithuanian language.

Re: Translation Project

I can translate a plugins into Russian.

Monkeys 06-09-2011 13:15

Re: Translation Project

I don't mind translating and checking Dutch and French.

The main reason for not having translations is because most plugins are rather small, though.
Those that are big expect the users to translate to their native languages.

Groger 06-09-2011 14:42

Thanks all of you. Already added your names to the list.

This seems like a good idea, thread stickied.
Maybe in the future 3rd party access to the SM Translation website could be sorted out, like what is currently being worked on for the gamedata updater.

I like this idea. :)

If anyone is interested in translating the SourceMod Anti-Cheat plugin, the phrases can be found here: smac.phrases.txt (completed languages)

You already have FR, so here's the NL.

(Prefixed it with [NL], don't forget to remove that)

If anyone wants to do translations for Ultimate Mapchooser, you can view the english phrases here: http://ccs.neu.edu/~steell/sourcemod...er.phrases.txt

(It's already been translated to Polish, Russian, Brazilian Portugese, Spanish, and German)

Maybe the amxx subform could be put in the global section so that it's meant for SourceMod too.

Well, translating for AMXX would be great but, we don't have much people on the team as you can see. And there is already a lot of plugins of sourcemod. With the topic sticked we have even more cause people will see the topic.

Concluding, we may translate for AMXX but only when we can get a team big enough.

Oh I didn't mean you should be translating for AMXX as well. I basically meant that this could have it's own subforum, whether you share with AMXX or not.

Let's see if it takes off or not first.

I just noticed that some languages aren't being packaged with SourceMod even though they are listed as complete. At first glance, it looks like Lithuanian and Slovak are missing from official releases. Maybe it's a bug, but I'll manually add them to my servers.

Is plugin compiled in UTF-8? Cause mindzius translations lack real Lithuanian symbols, therefore it's full of errors. Like ą,č,ę,ė,į,š,ų,ū,ž. If it does support UTF-8 it can be easily fixed. If you guys allow me, I can do it.

Every translation can be written in UTF-8. Just need to save as it and the symbols will be shown.

I know it can, but now it has to be rewritten. Since mindzius didn't use Lithuanian characters, nor did he save it in UTF-8. For example, instead of į he used i.
Anyways, going to sleep now. :)

Thanks Shufflex. Just one thing: remember to save in UTF-8 because, if not, the symbols won't be shown.

ShufflexDD 06-12-2011 14:18

Re: Translation Project

I have saved in utf-8 but were errors with encoding...

lokizito 06-12-2011 15:05

Re: Translation Project

Next time, if you use Notepad, try to save it as UTF-8 before start writing/translating.
If you use Notepad++, you need to first set the encode to UTF-8 and then write otherwise it will mess the things up.

Re: Translation Project

It would be nice to see a certain list of "Need-to-be-translated" in OP.
I'm just walking around here, and I do not want to search an untranslated plugins.

(o hai, I'm back)

Monkeys 06-14-2011 19:10

Re: Translation Project

While you're at it OP, add a bit more info about the plugins that need work.

For example:
Quote:

Sourcemod Anti-Cheat [en] file
Done: de, fr, it, lt, nl, pt, ru

Blah [ru] file
Done: ug, bu, lu
Requested: fr
Requested incase the owner wants some languages, etc...

maybe should remove "ru" from requests?

lokizito 06-15-2011 11:37

Re: Translation Project

Requested is what the author requested translation. Just for make sure it is needed. (would take some time in a long list of plugin to remove the done translations).

Leonardo 06-15-2011 14:53

Re: Translation Project

also it would be nice to see some kind of wiki or something else
where people can post their plugins
and any member could edit/fix plugin itself, post translations, ...
uh, never mind.
