run l4d2 server without steam game bug
 

hi, its a way to run l4d2 dedicated server with steam opened but without steam saying "playing left 4 dead 2?" because when i start a server with steam client opened, i cant join, steam says playing left 4 dead 2 but only the server is runing

Start client first, then start server. No other way afaik.

I seem to be having the same problem with my L4D2 Dedicated server. After I start the server the console reports that I have successfully connected to Steam. I can't see my server listed. I use the ~ key and "connect "my server ip" and I only get the L4D2 map page. It looked like it is trying to load the may but the load line only moves to the first red hash mark on the bottom of the loading page. The rest of the loading never takes place. I'm returned to the ~ termanl page and it says that it tried 10 times to load the map. It did connect to my dedicated server but it could not get a response from my UDP. However, I can host a Counter Strike came just fine. I'm lost too.
