It works just fine. Use the command line command I posted here but replace "ricochet" with the mod that you want. Also make sure that you set your login credentials in the command line where specified. You might also want to change the install directory.

You may need to run the command a few times to get all the requisite files.

It just works "fine" bruh. Just need some ways to trick SteamCMD and run the command like 100 times and still get corrupted HAHAHAHAHHHAA (f*cking psycho).

Or contact me personally through a PM to see if I can help. After getting all the server files, use ReHLDS of course.

No need to be calling people names. The command does work fine, I've never had issues downloading a server successfully with SteamCMD (running it a few times isn't hard to do). You should consider yourself lucky that Valve allows you to play the game at all anymore.

Usually, I tend to agree with you, but not this time. I tried installing HLDS via steamcmd and it failed on me. I even created a bash command which will repeat the process 10 times and guess what? Still the same issue. Even tried the app_manifest trick and got no result. It seemed like HLDS is no longer available.

Here is a live log, if my words are not convincing enough.

Re: Server Download on Linux

I'm downloading cstrike right now . . . FYI, you can't use anonymous, you have to log in with your Steam credentials (which is how I explained to use the command above).

Never intended to do that as you seem like someone who can read, "obviously". But the hat seems to fit you. Not my problem though HAHAHAHHAHA!

Yea, everything seems mysteriously fine on your end.

Of course, I'm lucky and will continue to be lucky. Too bad that Valve or "you" of course, can't do anything about it.

Re: Server Download on Linux

Since when did you need to login to download HLDS? I’ve download added it anonymously for years. When was this change announced ?

Re: Server Download on Linux

Never, it was never announced as it "should" work anonymous too. But it also "never" worked anonymous. I also "never" had to do the command more than one time since i used my real login data to download a cs1.6 server.

Re: Server Download on Linux

I’ve always downloaded HLDS anonymously from hldsupdatetool days. Logging in on a VDS with your credentials is not something I’m impressed with when CSGO and L4D2 are both available anonymously.
