Forum Integration

I have finished the first forum integration for the store plugin.

You can find the plugin in my github repo.
If you have mybb, you should know how to install a plugin in mybb.
This plugin works only if you have created a steamid field and your users have filled this field out.
Dont forget to adjust the settings according to your setup.

Please post only the forum you would like to use, if you want to have a forum integration that is not on the vote.
Free and OpenSource forum systems will be preferred, because I donīt own one of the paid systems.

Re: (MyBB) Forum Integration

1. Somewhat, I have no problem editing the code itself.
2. Custom profile fields are saved in mybb_userfields.
3. For new forums posts, new forum threads and on increase in referral number.
4.Ability to choose yourself, if not then static.

Also perhaps being able to get points by answering admin polls. Which would be useful if you want to get any information out of players, that would be their incentive.

Re: Forum Integration

Great job on the mybb integration. So far it is working flawlessly. Is there a possibility to award credits upon registration too?

edit: Is it possible to check against already registered people for duplicate steamids? So that people don't try to get smart and register multiple accounts with same steamid?

edit2: It is not awarding credits for registration.

Re: Forum Integration

A phpbb plugin just became very unlikely, because they do not offer useful information on how to write plugins (just a 26 pages coding guideline every developer has to follow to get his mod into the ModDB)

@vodka,
can you check if this plugin works.

:nono:

You know, that this plugin should send you a mail if a new user registers
Please try if this plugin works, because it uses the same hook for sending the mail

Ignoring the first post and posting the integration you would like to have wont speed up the development of the integration you would like to have

Any integration planned for SimpleMachines(SMF)? I was planning to make my own mod for the script but if you're working on one, I won't bother just yet. haha

I dont have much time to make a SMF (Mod ?) at the moment.
If you want to I can give you access to the repo, so we can keep all the forum plugins at one place

Is it possible to also make this work with the long ids? (The ones that you have for steamcommunity?) As far as I know it's just a simple conversion.

Should not be a problem, I might be able to do it at the weekend

Hello, just checking in to see if you had time to finish this? I saw that you updated it on the github to include the friendid. If you did finish it then it doesn't seem to be working properly.

But the problem with that is it's not easy to make a plugin for phpbb compared to mybb

Arrow768 05-14-2013 05:52

Re: Forum Integration

Logiflex is completely right: They do not offer useful information that makes it simple to start coding a plugin for phpbb. (as I have posted already)

[...]

Btw. I really prefer MyBB and SMF over PHPBB because they are much easier to administrate and you can install expansions without problem

EDIT: You have to read and follow these Documents before you can start coding:
Coding Guidelines 26 Pages
General Policies 4 Pages
Insta-Deny Policies 3 Pages
Repackaging policies 3 Pages
MOD Development Forum Rules 4 Pages
So you have to read a total of 40 Pages just to get started with the development of a Mod for PHPBB.

These are the Coding Guidelines for the Store Webpanel:
  • Comment every Function you are writing ,where the usage is not obvious (using phpdoc)
  • Optional: Use the netbeans autoformat function (if you are using netbeans)

Re: Forum Integration

More Details please:
* Is the plugin showing up in the admin backend ?
* And error messages ?

It has been quite a time since I used the mybb plugin the last time, so it might be better if I can take a look at your setup via teamviewer

Arrow768 01-13-2014 19:45

Re: Forum Integration

We have solved the problem via teamviewer.

If someone else is also having trouble with the mybb integration:
You need to enter the field id of the row where the steam id is stored in the settings (for example fid4 and NOT Stem-ID)
