sv_lan?
 

Please can someone explain the differences of setting the sv_lan 0 or sv_lan 1, other than the obvious ones(sever lan or server online with the auth differences)

Well, what other differences would you expect?

The server is (as you say, obviously) only available to your local network (= 1), or to all on the Internet (= 0). Besides that, I highly doubt there any other differences at all.
