about the newest cs 1.6 update
This is an announcement from valve about the new cs 1.6 update:
PHP Code:
does somebody knows what they mean by "trusted sources"? there isn't official servers for cs 1.6 so I'm guessing you need to apply to be trusted, does somebody knows anything about that? |
Re: about the newest cs 1.6 update
The only trusted source is the client.

The client is the trusted source for commands. The server is not. |

Another offtopic topic - In the beta version of cs 1.6 there is a new category in the Find Servers list. which looks like a "B" inside a square. do you know what is it? I think its boosts or something (like in FiveM) but I'm not sure. |
Re: about the newest cs 1.6 update
Boosts as in paying for your server to get players is only a non steam thing and doesn't work on steam only servers.
That box was always there, but it was hidden by default and now it's enabled. It shows if the server has bots on it or not. Here is the issue tracking this: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/halflife/issues/2481 |
Re: about the newest cs 1.6 update
Boosting only works on particular non-steam (cracked) versions of Counter-Strike. So if you download Counter-Strike from GameTracker.rs, only boosts from that site will work, since they've injected files into that CS version that will later help them to add servers to your feed, so when someone "boosts" his server, it gets added to your 'Find Servers' list.

It's about time GoldSrc got the equivalent of Source's FCVAR_SERVER_CAN_EXECUTE
|
Re: about the newest cs 1.6 update
Does it mean basic commands like "mp3 play" or "spk" won't work anymore (when send from server obviously)?

The privilege requirement on certain commands was to prevent malicious redirect and slowhack. |
