Nightly Builds

Rather than keep releasing RCs, I have decided to implement something new.

Now you can get nightly packages for AMX Mod X. Starting this night, these packages will be built and uploaded directly from CVS for all platforms. Automatically. Now, you can get the most "up to date" version every day you want.

You can browse the nightly build archive here:

www.amxmodx.org/nightly/

If you note any packaging errors, now is a good time to report them :)
Packages are sorted like this:
<platform> / <YYYYmmDD> / <amxmodx-target-0.20-<DATE>>

So find the current build by the current date. The script runs at 5AM Eastern Standard Time. As we make changes I'll note them in various changelog files you can see in the nightly folder. The changelogs will be rotated every time a new internal release is finished.

NOTE: This does not supercede releases, it supercedes beta packages. From now on releases will only be "final" releases, as anyone can now test the betas.

Enjoy!

[also: if you would like a copy of these scripts you may contact me]

YAY this means qick bug updates :)

FeuerSturm 09-13-2004 04:00

besides the fact that there is no amxxsc.exe in the base package,
this looks very good to me!

that's a great idea with the nightly builds :D

so the amxx 0.20 hungry people can always be up-to-date :D

BAILOPAN 09-13-2004 04:03

Thanks firestorm, I have fixed this for the next build cycle :]

QwertyAccess 09-13-2004 04:12

they are compiled on mingw right. the windows compile.

BAILOPAN 09-13-2004 04:13

Nope. Built by MSVS 7.0

QwertyAccess 09-13-2004 04:16

where did you find the command line interface for MSVC 7.0 O_o

BAILOPAN 09-13-2004 04:18

Wraith, told me about it. devenv /build

PM 09-13-2004 09:39

Gah i don't like the command line interface of devenv because it doesn't support font color: only type and size! That prevented me from doing the simplest version of DarkBA1L launcher.. grr!

Btw CVS builds: pld BAILOPAN :D

Automatically <-- I really don't know how much "extra" it would be, but whats about special i686 compiles than? If its just one more line to a batchfile, i would really appreciate that. :)

BAILOPAN 09-13-2004 10:38

i686 compiles are useless, I think if people really want the most optimized thing they will build from source for their own machine.

EKS 09-13-2004 13:03

This is realy cool. Now i dont have to start VS.net to try beta version :)

jsterling 09-13-2004 17:10

So, I know nothing about this and have no idea if it is possible but what about some sort of update feature? One central download location that you can update as you change dll's and such and an admin being able to run the updater and recieve only the files that have changed?

Or I guess a .txt containing the changed files for the release would work to

4ever! 09-13-2004 19:42

I have updated to the last build (sept 13)

In the weapon restriction menu the on/off option for the scout is missing :(

The scout is in the menu but not the on/off section behind it..

when its done and ittalic is
annoying :o

BAILOPAN 09-16-2004 03:42

Note that as you may have noticed, nightly builds will not be available for every platform every night.

Sometimes things just can't be committed in time so the scripts don't build workable code

I was about to comment on that. Wheres my win32 build!!

JC_Denton 09-17-2004 07:33

when it's done.. you'll get it ;)

BigBaller 09-17-2004 09:26

Well i find it extremely odd that amd64 and linux all have nightly builds but the last windows build was on the 14th. Something might not be right?

Yes I know there will not always be a nightly build but sometimes things dont match the common sense test.

BAILOPAN 09-17-2004 09:35

Nexxus 09-17-2004 21:29

dude HL2 is almost close to release and amxx0.2 is still pending release. I really hope it can be released in this week or next, so that you guys can aim amxx 0.3 to full support HL2 and CS source.

Thx for this software and keep up the work.

BigBaller 09-20-2004 01:06

HL2 still has quite a ride.

I image it will be released for the XMAS shopping season.

Bad HAL 9000 09-20-2004 03:32

im talking about AMXX support for Source

Probably wont happen in 4-6 months (just a guesstamate)

lart2150 09-22-2004 14:58

PM 09-22-2004 15:22

devicenull 09-22-2004 18:27

I could have sworn there was a post either here or on the adminmod news saying to..
STOP BOTHERING MOD DEVELOPERS ABOUT HL2. IT WON'T WORK, BECAUSE METAMOD WON'T WORK

Come on all ready.. I can't even count all the posts that have been made about this
