CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Runs Metamod nicely!
Server filled in seconds...lol

SourceMod just needs offsets (hopefully shouldn't be hard to retrieve for the guys) and we're good to go!

Is there a Linux server module? The offsets are easy to get from that.

EDIT: Downloading Linux server for CSSBeta as I type this. Hopefully can get offsets soon, as soon as it is installed.

Try the orange box MMS 1.81 version and make sure your metamod.vdf path says

"file" "../cstrike_beta/addons/metamod/bin/server.so"

Devilfish 05-11-2010 17:10

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

tried that, can anyone confirm MM loading on linux css_beta, btw the beta is already closed for download, I should imagine it will be full release before the end of the week.

Our community www.thepantless.com
is setting up and hosting a 36 slot 100tic de_dust2 CSS server in order to test this out.

I will provide an IP address for it soon so players may try it out.

Our community - http://syndicate-gamers.net has set up a 40 slot server (174.36.202.133)

I'm trying to get SM/MM to work on a test build, but am unable to do so.

I keep getting: Failed to load plugin "../cstrike_beta/addons/metamod/bin/server.so"

OK.... I see why MM:S loaded...
I had two files I added to my orangebox/bin directory, from legacy CSS:

vstlib_i486.so
tier0_i486.so

Don't ask why....related to something else!

Slots filled instantly apparently :( I tried to get in and get:
Notice: Thanks for your interest. We've filled the available slots.

Kinda disappointed that it filled that fast, they should just keep it open for a better range of feedback and bug submissions.

I imagine they have several thousand people who got it.

Got metamod working. SM causes segment fault

174.36.202.133 - 40 slot 16k start money.

got a server running on windows with MMS 1.9 (hg701)

BTW, I'm not sure if spamming server addresses in a forum of server admins will bring you any new player :)

strontiumdog 05-11-2010 18:58

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

SM probably requires offsets and much testing before anything else can happen. It's good there's a beta so SM can be ready to go.

They don't really need to.

The dedicated server files are still available.

savagekid 05-11-2010 19:35

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

The can still work on it but the point is that they still need to test it to find bugs. It will be tedious work if they have to tell someone who got in the beta to test it for them. Btw, I got in...LOL

Yeah SM should be a cakewalk, I ported my tf2 specific mod to CSS beta in 45 minutes.

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Metamod needs an update before Sourcemod will be able to load without crashes.

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Will plugins that people have now work after mm and sm are updated or will they all need to be updated now too?

thetwistedpanda 05-12-2010 01:24

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Probably depends on whether or not those plugins have any offsets. And on a side note, I thought you were dead zero.

zeroibis 05-12-2010 01:32

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

No, but I might be after this update. Plez tell me that custom maps will still work.

thetwistedpanda 05-12-2010 01:38

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

I saw CS:S Beta servers running fy_iceworld, so I'm fairly positive they do.

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Regardless valve just killed my summer. Now I literally half to stay home all summer waiting for the update to come out so I can fix everything... hopefully they will give us a heads up or something. I think I might actually have to cancel trips out of the country now becuase I could not fix all of the broken mods from there...

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

Is 100 tic still avaible or it is true that it was capped at 66 like in any other OB engine game?

BAILOPAN 05-12-2010 05:17

Re: CounterStrike:Source - Beta

zeroibis: wrong priorities! none of this matters, it's a game.

(That said, we'll try to get MM:S/SM working on the beta soonish - there's a few tricky decisions that have to be made.)

EDIT: Tricky as in, we want everything in place so both work seamlessly and continue to do so once the beta rolls over.

Is this an update to OB? Is it working off the OB engine now, sorry if I missed that.

Yes. It is on the exact same engine that TF2 and DOD:S are currently on.

Right and wrong, I run a very large community and my players and admins keep me well supported for years. I can not have my servers going off line for 3 weeks becuase I am at the beach. I just hope that the update comes sooner rather than later so I can get everything working. What I am really worried about is the clusterfuck that is wcs on eventscripts working. I know that everything in SM and MM will pretty much roll over so really it is the custom scripts and crap that is still in es shit can language that has me worried.

If only I got into the beta I could test and fix all my shit in advance once the MM and SM and ES updates are released.

Okay i tried everything suggested in this topic, but cant get it to work

is there something special you have to do before it will work?

Code:

"Plugin"
{
        "file"        "../cstrike_beta/addons/metamod/bin/server.so"
}

And i downloaded the latest metamod
I'm running linux

and also i get this error

Code:

Detected engine 2 but could not load: vstdlib_i486.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
