Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

1 Attachment(s)
XAD has given me a copy of the PTBx source code so I can maintain it. However, it is nearing Christmas and I have not yet had the time to deal with it. I'm attaching patched binaries below.

These do not contain any fixes, however, the binaries will at least load again.

I hope to be able to get real builds out again soon, but it is possible I won't be able to do it until after the holiday season.

And a huge thanks to XAD for giving him the source code so PTBx can be further developed :)

If your server does not start with or without this, then I guess "this" isn't the problem. lol :)

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

Its proberly something got to do with how it switches and the restrict commands which is causing it to crash on windows.

This bug still present.
BAILOPAN please fix him.

I can't believe, that noone else has my problem: On my server ptbx can not switch dead people to opponent team. There will be the same problem like urus has, some terror would be swapped and able to plant the bomb as counter. Is there an solution or will it be fixed in future versions?

Shadowdogg 01-14-2007 12:53

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

People do get that bug but tbh at least its working on Linux and not crashing every 2 hours like on Windows.

Its only at random because the bomber could be the person whos swopping, its been like this for a while now

Vinas 01-16-2007 15:03

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

Like he said, the plugin will now load.

There are still numerous problems with it, so at least for now -- ptbx is dead.

MeatGrinder 01-18-2007 00:54

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

It seems that PTBx needs a few fixes, that can be considered major fixes:

-Issues with auto-assigning and switching players who have cl_restrict_server_commands set to 1. Instead of switching them to the proper team causing the skin shooser to come up, it shows the team selection menu, and you have to select the team that PTBx want you to go on, otherwise your player remains frozen.

-Switching the terrorist with the bomb to CT. A fix would be to cause the player to drop the bomb if they have it before being switched. This is what the mani admin plugin "swapteam" command does to prevent this.

These are the only problems I've had thus far. No crashes or anything, and I have run it on both Linux and Windows for a quite significant amount of time on a very busy server.

Another thought, you could possibly work with Mani to possibly even integrate PTBx into the Mani Admin Plugin, and at the same time fix the standalone version of PTBx. Mani has got it down when it comes to bypassing cl_restrict_server_commands problems, as well as the bomb swapping problem.

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

I would like to use a SourceMM-Version of ptbx. The valve-plugin produces crashes sometimes. Sorry for re-asking, Bail, but, is the work in progress?

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

I believe he is working on a Source MM version. No word for a release date as of yet,.

Dustin 01-27-2007 11:50

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

There is a new problem with latest 17th of Jan -07 update with PTBx. The bomb getting swapped is nothing new, but it happens more and more these days. Main problem now is, for example that CT gets swapped to T-base, but the CT stays as CT, while the others are in team T. This of course, causes massive slaugher on T-base, if no one notices the CT there.

In short: Not only bomb gets swapped to CT - but now a guy who gets swapped may be in wrong team at wrong base.

We had this happen twice on same day, so i had to stop using PTBx for now. :/

BAILOPAN has been very busy with SourceMod stuff recently, so he doesn't have much an opportunity to work on this for now.

That is already old info and well known too. Just that there are 0 good team balancers which balance according to kills/deaths and not just making team sizes equal like mani-admin-plugin built in does. 20-0 rounds are pain for the losing team and not every server have those brave soldiers who dont care if they lose stats or not. Those statwhores will never join losing team.

FlyingMongoose 01-29-2007 02:54

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

Old info? The sourcemod sdk came out yesterday or the day before...he's REALLY busy with SourceMod.

You might be thinking of SourceMM which has been out for a while, SourceMod is coming out very soon since said SDK was released.

And glittermod has an overwin feature if one team is winning by "x" amount of rounds the map is force changed (no votes) and a team balancer similar to (but not the same as) ptbx.

Hello, XAD! Unfortunately not. I haven't had time; SourceMod got restarted shortly after I got the PTB source. I've been holding out ever since so I could port PTB to SourceMod.

Hmm, so PTBx will be a SourceMod plugin, not a Source:MM? What is your time schedule?

PS! Started to play some CSS again soo... (but we do not planing to run any servers ourselves).

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

We miss PTBx, it was switching late and even swaping the bomber to ct at start of rounds then one of the cs updates killed it and it no longer worked on our linux servers.

I would love to see it fixed and put out as a server plugin at least one more time. PTBx has always been an important part of community based servers.

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

^Same here. Using other teambalancers now put players are complaining about uneven teams and strange switches... they all want PTB back. Would love to see a new version!

MeatGrinder 04-23-2007 00:14

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

Yeah, cl_restrict_server_commands is wreaking havoc on the PTBx functionality. It doesn't auto-assign correctly and some players get frozen at spawn on the first round.

I know there's gonna be a SourceMod version but is there any chance of a fixed VSP plugin or at least a Source:MM version? I like keeping plugins to a minimum on our already very high load server.

FlyingMongoose 04-24-2007 20:18

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

There's someone working on a SourceMM version...no more info! :p

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

XAD! Very nice to see you.

Unfortunatly the PTBX project seems to have switched to MM only from what I know. We've been forced to use glittermod, it's not really a suitable replacment... I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we miss PTBx *very* much!

I remember helping you beta test PTBx... I don't think public servers have been the same since PTBx has been gone. If we had a wishlist, it would probably be filled with requests to have the PTBx goodness again!

Cheers,

Vinas

Re: Fixed Binaries, Part 2 (Dec 11, 2006)

BAILOPAN, could you not provide us with a temporary fix? I'm not too fussed about it being integrated in with Source MM - All i wanna do is to just use it and i'm sure thats how many other people feel.
