Steam server lists

Hi all

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on why a server would not show up in the steam list, or if it does show up, how to get it higher in the list.

My clan have had 3 20 player servers for about 3 years now and before steam we would show up in the list and even had the 20th most popular server in the UK. Yet after steam, we don't even show in the list, or on the rare occasion that we do we are so far down the list that no one sees us.

Also, the ping time in steam shows up at about 200 when if you refresh its really about 30.

Sooo, anyone have any thoughts on this?

yep, sv_region 3

makes one of the servers show up in the europe list but not world, lol (and they said they fixed this) the other servers dont even show up

would that make it a part of the world list? tbh im not stressed which it list it shows up, just that it shows up and preferably has a decent ping

The ping only depends on the location of the person that sees your server. Plus the pings flux and thats just Steam. Anyone who's been playing CS for a while knows to do a quick refresh of the server list before joining a certain one, because by the time all the servers are listed, some of them might be filled up, their pings might jump up or maybe they'll just crash for some odd reason. :lol:

The reason for the conflicting opinions is that Steam had a bug up until a month or two ago regarding server lists. IIRC, servers that were meant to be globally available appeared in NO lists instead.

well sv_region 3 all the servers now appear in the europe list (still a shite ping tho)

sv_region 0 1 server in the world list only

no sv_region and they dont show up at all
