Hey there, just wondering if it is possible to run a dedicated server (condition zero) on Windows Vista? No matter what i have tried after i start the server i cannot see it under the LAN tab nor the internet tab. I have forwarded the ports for the server in my router and alowed it through my firewall, even tried running the server as an administrator. Is this a vista problem or am i forgetting something?

It won't show up in the "Internet" tab regardless of what you do with port forwarding (that fact took me sooooooo long to figuer out :)) if the client and the server are behind the same router.

I don't know for sure if it will show up on LAN if you are using one computer for both client and server. I would guess not.

EDIT: Steam -> Tools -> Dedicated Server does not show up anywhere for me.

even if i add my local ip address to my favorites i still cannot connect becuase it says the server is down, if i go into the consol and type "connect 192.168.1.101" it will say "steam validation rejected" but it will show that i attempted to connect if i look at the server logs

alright i think it has to do with the port, i thought it was forwarded but when i check it on canyouseeme.org it says 27015 timed out. I have gone into my router and forwarded 27015 to both UDP and TCP.

here is a pic:

EDIT: (in that pic i know i put 27105 instead of 27015, but i changed it and still the same problem)

canyouseeme says 47918 is open, but 47919 and 27015 are closed.

any ideas?

Alright an update:

if i set uTorrent to use 27015 and then check canyouseeme it says 27015 IS open. So i am assuming something else is blocking HLDS from accessing the internet, i have tried disabling my antivirus firewall along with my windows firewall but when i do that it says "Connection Refused" on 27015, any ideas?

If you use Wi-Fi , then you should open ports in it too.

alright guys, i think we may have found the culprit: the wireless card. I was talking to someone else who had the same problem and we checked our wirlescards and they were:

intel pro/wireless 2200bg

and

intel pro/wireless 3945abg

Does anyone know what might be causing this in these cards? Or if that has to do with it at all?

Hello I don't know how your router works but to me that port is only open in your internal network. Can't you specify your WAN IP and open it?
