why does my css servers ip adress change when i take it down and then putit up again???

i know the difference but how do i get a static ip for my server i know others that have the same one even when the reboot it

if you put a router between the modem and your computer then even if you reboot it "Should" not reset the IP.

i have a router between the modem and my computer the computers ip doesn't change only the server its strange...

So then, the server isn't on one of your own computers?

it is i fixed it by ip = but the port keeps on changing..
