Here is my "catch the ban evading people" script

There are come people who, and I wont explain how, are able to use as many steamids as they want. Banning them by steamid is useless. This script will let you scan your logs and find the bastards.

You will have to cat /path/to/server1/banned_user.cfg /path/to/server2/banned_user.cfg | sort | uniq > masterbanlist.cfg to
get yourself a "masterbanlist" ln -s all your logs into a common dir,
then run this script.

It doesn't seem like it will always work. If player A has a dynamic IP address, connects and is banned, then player B connects with the same IP address, isn't he going to be banned also?

well, wouldnt it be possible to check ip vs steam id or something.

Soo if a diff ip but same STEAM ID connected it would ban that ip also, and diff STEAM ID but same ip ??

Oh, hehe. Its just a hack commonly found in the warez community (so I hear) that bypasses the steamid auth, so people can create and use as many steamids as they want.

Pisses me off.

It's not a SteamID hack only a "allow me to play a game on my account for free" hack...
Remember that the CD-key is only used to "open" your account to play the game and then the CD-key is useless on Steam and is never used on Steam... They still need to create a valid Steam-account (ie get their own SteamID) as anyone else... so far it's not a Steam-account hack which would allow them to define their own SteamID as in the old days with the WON...
