To enter the contest you must PM your hero to me with 'Contest Entrance' in the Subject line.
In the PM you must provide all hero information and attach your hero with it.


Rules:

SuperHero must be original meaning no ripoffs
The hero must be new and must not be in the SuperHero Forum
Try your hardest to stay away from using a model with your hero
Do not overpower your hero
Only one hero per user
Last but not least please don't copy any code from already made heroes


Prize:
The winners hero will get added to the default hero pack
The winner will be properly announced and be given a special title


Due Date:
May 10th, 2005

Ask all questions that you might have here. :D

GREAT idea, i think you should add that it must never cause errors, and also that it must be compatible with both amx's and amxx. (or just amxx since its the #1 choice with shero mod) :D

im thinking this contest was brought upon from the "who is the best scripter" thread.

hopefully some awesome new hereos will come from this.

Well the hero can be compatible on any version of AMX/X but AMXX is preferred though.
And no this contest was not brought up from whos the best scripter thread. We been thinking for a while how to get the community more involved.

Ok. I need to get something clear with everyone.
The hero MUST be Original which also means it has to be NEW. If you have already a submited hero in SuperHero forum then you cannot enter with that hero.

And if you send me a hero you cannot post it in the SuperHero forum (*common sense*)

Well that blows my entry. I've been scripting a workin Sentinel Hero for about 1 month now and I was going to finish that up and submit it. :( I started over from scratch, I wasn't using any of the broken code. Guess I'll try to think of something else... :cry:

They are testing their heroes up until the deadline to get rid of all the errors.

I Made this hero i had on the computer..I Dont know how it released but of some reason i see in a forum: Bob The Builder. That is exaccly the code because i made errors so it cudnt make the thing it was supposed to!

Erm, bob the builder was MY hero, or rather, one of the many that i started but never finished, designed to build a wall on key down but i never finished him and therefore didnt work, if you can get it to work i really don't mind you claiming it as your hero, but at least acknowledge that i was the original creator.

BTW, the source code has been easily available on my website so it's not like it would have been hard to download it... Stop taking chances!

there is docs at the mainpage - open .sma files..... read carefully....... and download the : How To Make A Superhero files........ Thats how easy it is..... And don't even bother to ask if people want to learn u how to script.... just read the sma's, understand what a cvar is.... and don't think small is a greek bullshit language :P

To my knowledge, it's not limited to SHmod, black lasers and such can't be done. Lets see... If I remember right the three colors are red green and blue. The max number you can set each to is 255. When all are at 255 the sprite becomes white. So your firts instict is to do the opposite of 255, right? And of course that would be zero.... So set everything to 0 and it comes out invisible. So your first thought is "Now my effin laser isn't working at all....." But then you see the burn decal on the wall so it must be invisible.... Hmmm..... And then it hits you.... If red, green, and blue are set to zero that means there is no color at all so if there is nothing there of course it would be invisisble! And then you feel stupid for trying..... Sorry for my way too detailed explanation.

Enough of getting off topic, this is the last I want to hear of it (I should probably split this off the topic)... you can't use black or make sprites black with addative sprites which is what beams (and most TE effects) use, black is used as the transparency for addative sprites. It either allows a) you to make addative sprites that have a transparent area or b) change the color of an addative sprite thru the use of ammount of saturation of a color (0-255 rgb)... This is not a hero thing, it is Half-Life thing...

There are other types of sprites which you can use black in, however like I said above most TE effects (includes beams) use addative sprites.

other wise known as a rip, those are good for your own server but will not win this contest and will likely not be posted in the Superhero section of this forum

basically, with no knowledge of coding, you start with rips, after a few you become more familiar with what everything does, then you can understand the tutorials and get ideas for your own heros

If you search the old AMX forums or the new AMXX forums for released plugins, you will see where many of the 1st heros came from, many were just adapted plugins

don't get discouraged, everyone starts somewhere
