View Full Version : Wtf do .sma's do?
well, i was kinda wonderin what .sma's do, chivas said their worthless and dont do anything with them, then i see him say on a post that put them in examples folder...if i dont put them in there, will it effect my hero?
( also do i hav to CUT and paste them into their correct folders or just copy or whatever )
Their used to compile the hero to a .amx file. Useful at times...

the sma contains the code which was used to make the amx. The sma was written by someone who knows how to program and then compiled which made an amx
The sma is kept in the examples folder for reference only or if you wanted to change the code and recompile it, which you don't need to do because of cvars. Kepping it in the examples folder just makes it easy to find if you ever wanted it, but it is not necessary to even have it, ex the hero hax0r which very few people even have an sma for
as far as copy paste, you do it how ever you want, copy paste, cut paste, move it, or extrect it, or however you fell comfortable getting the sma to examples(if you want) and the amx to plugins and written in plugins ini(both needed for hero to work)
.sma's also come in real handy if you want to start making your own heros :) Just remember to GIVE CREDIT if you use part of someone elses code.

read the docs.... this is in the FAQ!
Q: What is this sma / amx file for?
A: SMA - These are "Small" source code. AMX(x) plugins are written in small and then compiled to be loaded into the server. The only use of the sma file is if you want to modify the plugin and recompile it.
AMX - Compiled AMX plugins, these cannot be edited at all and is what the server loads to make use of the plugin. Add these files to your plugins folder and an entry to the plugins.ini to install them.
