There were some last-minute build problems in the sqlite and mysql modules; also the config files were left out of the linux packages. There will be a "1.56" release posted to SourceForge shortly to correct this.
In the meantime, get the config files from a windows package.


I'm pleased to announce that AMX Mod X 1.55 has been released. This is, for the most part, a bug-fix release that pulls 1.50 out of beta.

The major changes: AMX Mod X is now optimized better on Linux. The binaries should be significantly smaller and more efficient. AMX Mod X's editor has been upgraded to AMXX Studio.

You can get the binaries from the downloads page (http://www.amxmodx.org/downloads.php) or the SourceForge project page (http://www.sf.net/projects/amxmodx). A full changelog is at the bottom of this post.

As this is considered a stable release, the new Pawn 3.0 compiler will replace the Web Compiler's Small 2.7.3 compiler on Monday, August 29th, at 10AM EST. When the new compiler goes live, very few plugins should break, but authors should make sure their plugins compile just to be sure. Moderators will be unapproving plugins that aren't updated and don't compile.


- Changed the JIT to prevent possible crashing on pingboost/threading situations on linux (reported by hullu).
- Compiled with gcc-3.4 instead of 2.95 - binaries should be smaller and faster (thanks hullu). AMX Mod X and the S/MDK will no longer compile on gcc-2.95
- Added human readable error messages to many core natives.
- Added Czech language translation (thanks Fatty).
- Replaced AMXX Edit with newer AMXX Studio.
- Replaced ESF module with new ESF plugin from Corona-Bytes.
- Fixed bug where set_task would run one extra time on "repeat" mode.
- Fixed bug where plugins could not be unpaused.
- Fixed bug where bots could not deal damage with Fun module.
- Fixed linux compiler crashing on load.
- Fixed crash bug in register_native.
- Fixed alloc/dealloc mismatches in register_native.
- Fixed three newmenu functions not being implemented (patched by Freecode).
- Fixed a bug where CS team switching did not work with plmenu (Steam update consequence).
- Fixed callfunc_push_str copying zero characters (reported by Lord of Destruction, Twilight Suzuka).
- Fixed documentation errors about MF_AmxExec* (Twilight Suzuka).

Also note that AMX Mod X now has a C# release program (located in CVS, installer/AMXXRelease). This is a public release of the program I use to build everything in CVS and package it up for release.

There is two little errors on AMXmodX download page :
Addons packages cannot be downloaded (amxmodx-<mod>-1.55 instead of amxmodx-<mod>-1.50) On the page it's written AMX Mod X Base v1.50 instead of v1.55

The Plugins still CANT be unpaused.

Or does that works for someone ?
cause i cant unpause them, not with the amxx menu nor with the console

Pausing/Unpausing works fine. Don't STOP the plugins. Stopping is permanent.

I'm sorry to say that this version isn't less crashing than the beta. I'm goin now to check my self-made plugins, but normaly i would expect to get an error if plugins would be the problem, not crashes......

Allright, since I'm using some big ESF plugins on mine AMX Mod X installation ( for few I don't have source, such as EvolutionX ), and I immedeately switched back to AMXX 1.0.

Why?

Let's go by order.


All mine plugins DO compile, and DO run fine, but several plugins as EvolutionX aren't working at all ( broken stuff, etc )
ESF module has been replaced by as I see, unworking stuff, which even doesn't have his own documentation.
AMXX just acts weird sometimes. On clean installation it banned just by himself WHOLE server. Don't ask me why or how. I just know we were all banned, NOTE, there weren't any plugins but default ones, and no anti-cheat things ( VAC doesn't support ESF, CD wasn't installed ).


There were also few things...
So I'll stick to 1.0 for a while...

I'm not trying to ruin ( or anything like that ) hard work of AMX Mod X team, just that in mine expirience all versions except 0.16 and 1.0 have many flaws. That's why I always backup and rename mine working AMXX installation before installing new one.

BTW, do 1.55 handle register_event different than 1.01 or 1.50?

In Natural Selection, i use something like
register_event("WeapPickup","spawn_lerk","b","1=6")

In 1.55, this didn't work....

The only things that changed are what you see in the changelog. register_event hasn't changed in years.

Stopping is permanent, so don't stop plugins. Pause them instead.

The ESF module was replaced by EVM because it relied on all sorts of animation stuff which wasn't really a good idea. Somehow I doubt it doesn't work because Corona tends to test their stuff very well. If you have a specific problem with it, that' what Bug Reports are for.

i updated to v1.55, but now i cant excute half of the options via thefront-end menu. options 1 to 4 (kick/ban/slay/team) are grayed now, but all other options look fine. i checked my users.ini and i have all the acces needed.

anyone knows why?

E) Bring you all the way down to the bottom of your code...

If you´ve read the quote you posted yourself you would know that there will be a 1.56 release. And if you´ve read the thread you would know that there are issues with mysql modules you´re claiming for.

So sit and wait until 1.56 is released. I need a working mysql module also for my wc3 server ;)

I saw earlier in this thread someone posted that he/she was having a memory leak issue, I am also having a memory leak issue. I'm not sure about usage, but I know pings double and keep going up, then back down (But not down to normal) then back up, and it crashes.

I think it might be a metamod plugin giving me problems actually, with this new version of metamod and all. Will post on what I find out.

I always give amxx at least 2 weeks before I download the latest "stable" release :lol:

Saves you a lot of headaches and gives enough time to our amxx team to fix up the bugs in the "stable" release that might have been causing instability!

Really, I don't know..but I overwrited plmenu.amxx with an older one (1.01), it worked perfectly.

In amx mod x 1.01 you can stop the plugins and when they are stoppet you can turn them on again, but on the new 1.55 you cant start them if you stop them, so is it a bug? or is it gonna be so we cant start them if we have stoppet the plugins? :roll:

Well on the note of stopping and pausing:
You could make it so when you "stop" a plugin it will be stopped until you unstop(unpause) it but wont load again till map change. While pausing you can go back and forth with.

That difference only exists in pausecfg.sma; what I'm concerned about is the exact meaning of the state in regards to Core. Basically, the pause plugin was using a totally made up plugin state (ps_stopped) to achieve this, which is poor design. In a good architecture, plugins should never be defining functionality that exists in the design. In this scenario, ps_stopped is meaningless without pausecfg.

So, I'm reverting the functionality, but not without whining about it being poorly implemented in the first place.

I agree with above, but there should still be a way to permanently pause a plugin, until it is manually unpaused. This would however be handled by the core in that case, and not that/a plugin.

Have you looked in you amxx logs for errors..

The 1.56 Mysql Module where great at reducing memory usage.
But it broke amxbans and uwc3 plugin.

The 1.01 API specified this behaviour:

RESULT_FAILED (-1), SQL server rejected query as valid
RESULT_NONE (0), There were no results in the query, either a non-SELECT or empty SELECT.
RESULT_OK(1+), The result handle is a valid handle for retrieving results.

1.50 broke this API and 1.56 reverts to it. From the examples above, they are conformant to neither API, as RESULT_NONE was never a valid return value, you could neither free it nor get info from it (so I don't understand why they'd do this).

To end the discussion, the correct way to use DBI is this:

if (res == RESULT_FAILED)
//QUERY FAILED
else if (res == RESULT_NONE)
//NO RESULT
else if (res >= RESULT_OK) {
//VALID RESULT SET
dbi_free_result(res)
}


In 1.01, if you passed invalid result handles (RESULT_NONE, for example), it would ignore it and continue. This was to preserve mysql compatibility but it was a bad idea since it could mess up important plugin states by giving a false sense of security. As such, it's now an error.

Follow-up: I gave up and reverted to how 1.01 handled RESULT_NONE. You can now pass it into dbi_result and dbi_nextrow safely, however, it will ignore it and return 0.

Old plugins will still be compatible this way.

:roll: Mysql module 1.56 running without a prob on Linux Suse 9.2, no crashes sofar. Seems to fix the crashes for me.
