Basically, if the Source engine is ported to Linux, it means that atleast the Unreal engine should follow. Which would mean that hardware companies would have to come up with proper support for Linux users...

... Now, when XP support ends, and XP becomes "old" and while Vista "lacks" support for games, as does Linux right now, it should even things out alot.

Atleast in my utopia.

I should've pointed out graphics cards, sorry.
The Ati drivers (haven't tested the new one though) have sucked AFAIK, and haven't been able to give the performance the card can in the Windows side. Also I've heard of trouble with the nVidia cards, but they should work better with Linux.

I am hoping big companies like Ati and nVidia would launch proper support and good driver updates for Linux users aswell.

The task of improving ATI's Linux drivers is now in the hands of Linux users.

Should be interesting to have 2 copies of Steam open at once (one via WINE for 1.6 and the regular Linux installation for source).

So I read, but they also released a driver of their own, sometime ago, right? Gonna test it this weekend
