Ping spike

One of the members in my clan has an issue where if a lot of stuff starts going on his ping sky rockets. He assumes its due to sv_maxrate being too low. Apparently other games such as css and tf2 don't cause these issues but wondering if any of you guys might have some additional info. I wasn't sure if it was due to his updaterate or something similar.

Which game btw?

If it's L4D i have the same issue, but only when playing on my nfoservers.com san jose server. I had to nerf the "net_splitpacket_maxrate" to 15000 (nfoservers default is 30000).
Awkward enough, it only seems to affect me.

It is L4D sorry. It happens to him on all three of my servers i have one from counter-strike.com and thats in ATL and 2 in Chicago from NFO and AWO.

It looks as though the net_splitpacket_maxrate is default to 15000

Are you sure it's 15000 server side?
