Hello everyone,

From here on out, all XPMod updates and information will be posted in this thread. We will continue to update the mod as our schedule allows us.

XPMod is alive and well, although progress has been slow, we are consistantly updating when we get free time. To reward everyone's patience, we have released an alpha version of some of the special effects included in XPMod.

Get The Client Addon Here!

The client addon is a .vpk file that allows you to see and hear a plethora of additional effects associated with XPMod. You will have access to particle effects, a VGUI, sprites, sound effects, an Announcer, and weapon scripts, all of which enhance the experience when playing on an XPMod server.

PARTICLE EFFECTS:

The particle effects offer a visual representation of events, skills, counters and is the backbone for the VGUI and sprites.

Here are some examples:

VGUI:

A graphically heavy, detailed interface that offers more information than what is offered by the character restricted menus. The VGUI shows details about each particular talent such as how it fits the character, its intended use, what commands may be tied to it, etc. To view the VGUI in-game, navigate through the !xpm menu to whichever survivor talent you wish and the VGUI should pop up near you. The VGUI can be configured in the in-game !xpm menu by navigating to Extras/Options.

Here is an example:

SPRITES:

The sprites offer a visual representation of information being tracked, such as the amount of experience you are gaining. The experience sprites can be configured in the in-game !xpm menu by navigating to Extras/Options. From here you can configure the experience to display using the sprites, text in the chat window, or disable the display all together.

Here is an example:

SOUND EFFECTS:

The sound effects offer an auditory respresentation of events, skills and is the backbone for the Announcer.

ANNOUNCER:

Gives an Unreal Tournament feeling when playing, announcing major events and kills. The Announcer can be configured in the in-game !xpm menu by navigating to Extras/Options.

WEAPON SCRIPTS:

These allow you to use all melee weapons on any official L4D2 map, restricted or not, without problems. Without these you would generally see errors with many melee weapons while playing on an XPMod server.

ChrisP and I want to thank all of those who continue to show support for XPMod!

Great addon to the xpmod servers. Love the effects. The client seems to improve performance. About 5 fps difference from what I can tell. Overall, I would not play the xpmod server without this client addon.
