Is anyone else getting socket errors when trying to check for updates? Whenever I run sm_autoupdate_check, I get the following error:
Code:
L 02/18/2011 - 17:02:24: [autoupdate.smx] Socket error: 3 (#11004)
I'm running a windows server, in case that helps.

Here's a version that works with the information provided in the first post.

It also fixes the AskPluginLoad issue.
Attached Files
File Type: sp Get Plugin or Get Source (autoupdate.sp - 331 views - 22.6 KB)
File Type: smx autoupdate.smx (12.0 KB, 327 views)

hey guys..
I'm not sure who is actually keeping this updated, seems perhaps "Mecha the Slag"

I have an idea, if it can be done.
When a plugin is being updated, can the cfg file that is made for the plugin being updated (cfg\sourcemod\customname.cfg) be renamed as such (cfg\sourcemod\customname.cfg.bkup) so the new cfg file can be made ?

This way if there are new cvars added to the plugin, they will be listed in the new cfg.

EDITED:

Also, and option to e-mail 1 or more admin's if a certain plugin was updated. This could be a reminder for the admin to re-edit the new cfg with the new cvars.

This is from SourceMod's autoupdater, not this plugin.

Not very fimilar with this plugin. Maybe its a formatting issue. Anyone know why THIS xml file is producing this log file:

Quote:
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:56: <UPDATING> simple-chatcolors.smx to version 1.3.0 - Changes: Updated version
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:57: Downloaded addons/sourcemod/plugins/simple-
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:57: Downloaded addons/sourcemod/scripting/simpl
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:57: Downloaded addons\sourcemod\scripting\simple-plugins/simpl
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:57: Downloaded addons\sourcemod\translations/sc
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:58: Downloaded addons\sourcemod\configs/simple-
L 08/16/2011 - 18:34:58: Downloaded addons\sourcemod\configs/simple-
I am looked back at almost every thread and even the code. There seems to be inconsistencies in the formatting. The result of update with this file is a bunch of partially named files all over the place.

Would anyone be interested in a new auto-updater plugin? I can only assume that this one isn't supported by the original author anymore.

Some things I'd like to see:
  • Bug fixes.
  • Path_SM support instead of having to hardcode the SourceMod folder (none of my servers used the original name).
  • KeyValue files instead of XML.
  • More features for developers, and less confusing for users.
  • The auto-updating plugin should update itself, so that other plugins can always rely on the latest features/fixes.
